Our Love Story

Of all of the places, of all of the chairs,
Of all of the songs floating out through the air,
We landed together, just Daisy and Jeremy,
On June tenth, in the year twenty-twenty-three.

The karaoke was lively. The room was quite hot.
A grand cosmic meeting? An unlikely spot!
But we turned, and our eyes seemed to say, “There you are!
Have we met in a dream? On a boat? On a star?”

We talked about sailing, of places unknown,
And somehow a stranger felt rather like home.
Was it fate? Was it timing? Some heavenly cue?
Whatever it was, it led me to you.

Then off to the mountains, with dogs by our sides,
Where mushrooms and marvelous mysteries hide.
A tent! Mountain air! What a lovely first date!
Till a cow wandered in, having sniffed out a plate.

“Am I dreaming?” thought Daisy. “A cow? Here? But how?”
Then she woke to discover: yes, the dogs brought a cow.
There was one sleeping pad, so J said, “That’s for you.”
His back had opinions. His heart stayed quite true.

A week later—yes, just a week!—off we flew,
To islands where Daisy had lived on the blue.
We camped on a peak with the sea all around,
And treasured this wonderful us we had found.

Three years full of rambling, of roots growing deep,
Of big dreams to follow and small joys to keep.
We’ve come to know quirks, silly habits, and ways,
And love all those pieces through all kinds of days.

Through teaching and yoga, through nature and care,
We’ve found gifts that grow all the more when we share.
And helping bring comfort where healing can start
Has given us still more to hold in our hearts.

But here is the part that we most want to say:
You’ve each helped to love us along on our way.
Before there was our road, before there was we,
You helped shape the people we each came to be.

Your kindness, your laughter, the care you have shown—
We carry it into this love of our own.
So when we look out on your faces that day,
There’s more in our “thank you” than words quite can say.

With fur babies gathered and dreams yet to grow,
And hopes for small footsteps wherever we go,
We’ll step into marriage, so grateful and glad,
For each other—and all of the love we have had.

Come gather, come giggle, come dance beneath stars!
What joy that our people, our loved ones, are ours.
Our Sacred Union, with all of you near—
What a beautiful chapter.
What luck to be here.
